Night Market

Night Market is the Taiwanese American Students Association's (TASA) flagship event, bringing out well over 1,000 people. The 2010-2011 school year was the 8th Annual Night Market hosted at the Main Mall. They provide free catered food (fried rice, lo mien, and egg rolls), fresh made food (shaved ice and green onion pancakes), a mochi eating contest, games, cultural performances, and free prizes!

TASA invites different student organizations to provide a table at the event to host their own game. They also invite other organizations to send a performer if interested. These performances range from singing, Chinese yo-yo, wushu, lion dance, chinese traditional fan dance, modern dance, etc...

After Night Market, TASA hosts a club party. This year, it was hosted at ACES Lounge, a popular night club in the middle of Austin's 6th Street. The theme was Type-A, which can be interpreted in different ways. It can be interpreted as a blood type, personality type, etc... but the main reason for the theme was a play on words. Type A, if said correctly, sounds like Taipei - Taiwan's capital city.
